At the end of the semester, I will assemble all my course products by uploading them into the Portfolio section on Canvas. I will also keep all my current course products intact on my blog. Beyond the end of the semester, I would like to continue to use my blog as a platform to share both new discoveries about my home watershed as well as updates about my PhD research. My research is focused on stormwater management and urban water sustainability and I'd like to use my blog to help spread my findings with a wider audience and hopefully inform future watershed stewardship efforts around the world.
Emily, I am also doing my study on a northern Virginia stream--Accotink Creek. I thought your study of the salinization of freshwater streams and rivers was fascinating, although scary. Also, I had no idea that the lead in the water in Flint Michigan resulted from salinization of the waterway there, which corroded the old lead pipes.
ReplyDeleteEmily, this is a really interesting topic and I appreciate that you talk about this from a broader perspective than just your watershed. This is a really serious concern and I think you did a great job of illuminating the issue in a variety of ways in your slideshow.
ReplyDeleteHi Emily,
ReplyDeleteThis is a great presentation on an important issue! I'm impressed with how well you explain the complexity of the issue so succinctly; the video at the end is a great addition as well.
Thanks for the info,
Thomas
